The Columns have a unique place in our line-up.
Originally, we bought these 3 duplexes so that we could tear them
down and build some new condos on this same property. When the
economy started to turn for the worse, we figured we should make
some improvements, and hold on to them. Because most of the
units have ceramic tile, and are almost indestructible, they have
filled a niche in our offerings as our only pet friendly unit, and a
very roomy option for folks that don't want a roommate, but want
more space than a 1 bedroom. The location of The Columns is
definitely close enough to walk to campus or the Downtown Auburn
shops and restaurants. They are actually located right next to
our Walker's Point Condos.

Once we decided to keep these units and not tear them
down, we started to notice there were some solid bones, and some
character to the old places. Cabinet space is limited, but
there is a very large walk-in pantry for kitchen storage. At
some time in the last 20 years or so, a full-size stack washer and
dryer was added to each kitchen for added convenience. Despite
being from the 1940's, each bedroom has a mini-walk-in closet, and
many of the bedrooms have an operable transom above the door to
provide some ventilation white retaining the privacy of a closed
bedroom door. The bathrooms are somewhat out of date, but they
do have the classic look of black and white tile on the walls and
floors. Some of the units have carpet in the living room and
the bedrooms, but as of now, more than half of the 6 units have
ceramic tile throughout.
In these 6 units, about half of the tenants are
students (juniors and up) and the other half are professionals in
Auburn with a Masters or better, including one professor in the
English Department at Auburn. The units are older than our
others, but rock solid, will provide a different experience than an
apartment or mass-produced duplex neighborhood. The Columns is
our main "pet friendly" place, and our pet deposits are
probably the lowest in town. We don't often have more
than one or two come open in any given year, and as with our other
properties, tenants usually stay until they leave Auburn. If
you need a pet-friendly place, or just want a little more elbow
room, please call us about The Columns. |
